RESIDUS

Print on plaster, dimensions variables,2024

Résidus is a series of prints made by transferring black ink onto plaster. The process reveals fragmentary forms, like traces left on the surface of the material.

In Gnawa practices, the polarity of black and white permeates therapeutic and ritual uses, referring to distinct symbolic affiliations. Here, black acts as a persistent imprint, inscribing a bodily and social memory into the material. Part of the project La texture de la transe (The Texture of Trance), Résidus questions the way in which these chromatic oppositions structure states of transition and transformation.
