Souad El Maysour is a visual artist born in 1970 in Casablanca, Morocco. She lives and works between Strasbourg (France) and Fès (Morocco).

For several years, Souad El Maysour has developed an artistic practice based on investigation, fieldwork, and dialogue between creation and research. She develops a transdisciplinary practice based on the transformation of materials and attention to gestures, uses, and production contexts. Her work articulates sculpture, installation, and image around questions of memory, circulation, and transmission, between contemporary practices and situated knowledge.

Her work draws on various historical and cultural contexts, nourished by her dual Moroccan and French culture. Her approach, marked by particular attention to issues of gender and transmission, explores the conditions of visibility for women and marginalized narratives in history. Through projects combining artist residencies, narrative collections, in situ explorations, and university collaborations, she creates works that question the mechanisms of memory construction and contemporary forms of inequality.
